UB Believers: FAQs
Q: What is the purpose of UB Believers?
Today, UB is a leading generator of economic activity, research pioneer and supporter of the arts. With the community’s help, tomorrow it will do more.
To continue UB’s growth and the corresponding benefits it provides for our region, consistent support from individuals and New York State is imperative. To address this need, UB Believers was created. UB Believers serve as community and university advocates by communicating messages to elected officials, colleagues and friends, in support of UB initiatives that will positively impact Western New York.

Q: How does a stronger UB make for a stronger Western New York?
Studies show that a strong university can improve the economy and quality of life in the area it resides. Currently UB supports this idea by:
- Providing a strategic “leg up” to local businesses, educating tomorrow’s workforce, promoting development of new technologies and attracting visitors and students to the region,
- Bolstering the quality of our area’s public schools and the educational opportunities afforded to those students that attend them,
- Attracting increasing research dollars and generating hundreds of inventions, patents and start-up companies,
- Promoting quality of life through its civic engagement programs, libraries and lectures, cultural offerings, recreational facilities and charitable activities.
